Based on the idea that a lot of architects have a clear form language and – at one point or the other – have translated these into pieces of furniture or objects, others stayed within the architectural realm.
Using the example of Colognian Post-war architect Wilhelm Riphahn, this project explores the possibility of constructing pieces of furniture, derived from his architecture. While his architectural designs have a clear form-language, he never translated these into anything else than buildings.
Through visual research of his most famous buildings, such as the Cologne opera house, two chair designs evolved.
